Hello Erich, greetings Alander, and hiya DiDoomDi! A pleasure to have all of you join the forum; I hope we'll all enjoy sharing our opinions and ideas about Shadows of Esteren and about role-playing games in general!

Phew, three new members in so little time? Shiver in fear, Wizards of the Coast, our popularity is soaring!
tamsyn a écrit :I don't think you will have a problem getting those!
Well it's not all that easy. Sometimes, you have people who seem to have motivation, but sometimes, they turn out not to be that reliable in the end... However, I can see that we obviously have very good folks here on the forum, and I'm glad there is such nice company to populate it!
Allez, come on, allons-y, here we go, en avant, godspeed, hardi, let's do this!

Might as well post something instead of just lurking.

Well, greetings to all of you from Vancouver, BC! Found this while wondering around kickstarter and I'm pretty glad I did.

*Gasp* A wild DeeDoomDee appears!

Looking forward to running a game on the mainland (with DiDoomDi, assumeing he's free) sometime around March when I get my rewards from the Book 0 Kickstarter.

Hi everyone!

After some difficulties with registration and with some help from a fellow user and the admins, I finally managed to join the forum... Image

I'm from Germany (as quite a few others here, I noticed), and I've fallen in love with Shadows of Esteren only recently. Initially, I bought the book as a background for a single one-shot but was surprised to find a roleplaying game that does almost everything "the way I would have done it myself". So I'm currently quite enthusiastic (even though I have to admit that I haven't even read through all of the book yet).

So I'm looking forward to the discussions here. And I already have a question that I currently don't know where to post (feel free to relocate it to a more appropriate thread if applicable). As someone who strictly plays online, the Fantasy Grounds ruleset (in French) is very important for me. So I'm obviously curious about the status of the translation. I can also offer my help here - I will translate the ruleset for my own group anyway, so if the translation team needs any assistance, I would gladly join the ranks (I'm a computer scientist by trade, I have modified FG2 rulesets before, and I've grown up close to the French border, so my French is somewhat rusty, but functional).

Cheers

Weltengeist

Welcome here Weltengeist.

I have not heard about a translation but I suggest you to send a PM to Heedio who is the one who made the French adaptation of the fantasy grounds ruleset for Esteren. I think he is the most qualified to answer you.

For moment you can open a thread on the french section with the [en] tag in the title and if necessary a new room could be open (but I don't think it is an emergency ^^)

Hello everyone.

Ive been following esteren since the first kickstarter ended(i just missed it!) and pledged at tuille collector level for the recently ended one.

so abit about me: i live in the northern part of the Uk(not scotland but within range) so i understand the atmosphere of the esteren setting somewhat what with it often being abit grim and dark up here during the winter months :)

My first introduction the roleplaying games was actually via the Heroquest boardgame that games workshop/mbgames published in the late 80's but it soon lead me to my highschools roleplaying games club where i experienced AD&D second edition and all the wacky often broken rules within those wonderfull tomes....ive been hooked ever since.

I tend to be the guy who runs campaigns around here so access to the gm only section would be an advantage for plotting out my esteren games(not sure how i go about asking permission to access that section).

Hopefully i'll gain more knowledge about this wonderfull setting and eventually be able to contribute ideas to the forum as a whole once i recieve the kickstarter goodies in march but untill then i'll be bouncing around the forum reading threads and occasionally posting my thoughts.

Welcome to our new members ! :D

I hope you'll have a lot of fun and interesting discussions here !

@ Weltengeist, what a cute green smiley !

About the official translations, I can't precisely answer, Nel' or Clovis are are those to ask ;) ...

---------------------------------

@ Broken-serenity : to access to the GM section, you only have to MP to an admin (red name), like "Esteren". You'll have then to wait a few days and that's it :)

----------------------------------

Don't hesitate to ask about whatever you want to know, well' do our best to answer ... :)
Si je ne suis pas là, vous pouvez me trouver ici ou ou par MP.

Thanks pm sent.

I shall try to muddle through with the pdf's once i recieve them(due son from what the update on the Ks page said llast week) before asking questions here that way i wont become a pest by asking silly self evident questions lol

Strangely even without having the books to peruse i have a few ideas for adventures based on myths and legends of asia and northern europe, the thread about monsters and threats that described the sorta of threats heroes face inspired me.

Well, since the Esteren Fantasy Grounds ruleset is the work of a fan, I have not been involved in it so far. However, if a translation is launched, it would be a pleasure for me to occasionally lend a bit of help, if need be! However, as things are, as far as the possibility of a translation is concerned, the best thing to do is probably to talk about it with the original author (Heedio), and see what can be done.

Ha ha, it's true that AD&D is wacky! Even now, the 3.5 edition (I don't know about the 4th one) has broken aspects which are very fun to mess with. One of my favorites is the delightfully absurd Jumplomancer concept.
Hopefully i'll gain more knowledge about this wonderfull setting and eventually be able to contribute ideas to the forum as a whole once i recieve the kickstarter goodies in march but untill then i'll be bouncing around the forum reading threads and occasionally posting my thoughts.
It would be a pleasure to read about your ideas! Sometimes, fans give us a hard time with complicated or unexpected questions, but we are always ready to do our best to provide them with constructive answers and guide them toward good ideas to make the universe all the richer and more fascinating!
Allez, come on, allons-y, here we go, en avant, godspeed, hardi, let's do this!
