Feondas vs nature
Hi guys,
The subject of this post is probably a contradiction all by itself. Something tells me Feondas pretty much ARE the nature.
But here's what I've been wondering about: when Feondas harass human settlements, I imagine they spirit away or slaughter cattle and other farm animals too, not just humans.
Do correct me if I'm wrong.
But would Feondas bring harm to nature untouched by civilization? I imagine they need to eat somehow, so they probably do kill wild animals (again, do correct me if I'm wrong) but would they do it for any other reasons? Rage? Strange sacrifices?

Re: Feondas vs nature
It's really up to how you see Feondas and what role you would have them serve in your campaign. They may be the wrath of nature incarnate, ancient monsters, an alien civilization, corrupt beings, etc.
Through the book, it's mentioned several times that Feondas attack and slaughter humans ruthlessly, but that most of the time, they seem to strangely leave nature untouched. What to make of that is up to you!

Allez, come on, allons-y, here we go, en avant, godspeed, hardi, let's do this!
Re: Feondas vs nature
So this made me wonder, is it normal for Feondas to be blatantly supernatural. I had an idea for one and wasn't sure if it was more appropriate as a Feonda or as a spirit.

Cheers, Clovis!
Goodness me, this setting is sooo inspiring!
Re: Feondas vs nature
It can be perfectly normal, yup! I can't stress that enough: Shadows of Esteren is first and foremost what you make of it. If you consider that Feondas are vengeful spirits of the dead that arise to take revenge against those who have wronged them and mankind as a whole, then go for it!Ocule a écrit :So this made me wonder, is it normal for Feondas to be blatantly supernatural. The basic premise of the Feondas is to be strange, monstrous creatures that have always been the enemies of mankind. From there, you can go wild!
You're welcome, pawel. We do our best to make it so!paweldaruk a écrit :Cheers, Clovis!Goodness me, this setting is sooo inspiring!

Re: Feondas vs nature
We had a similar conversation in the french's forum.
It seemed to me that some feondas act normally in the wild and are "triggered" to attack when humans are near.
Other Feondas on the contrary don't stay in the wild and seek actively humans settlements, so they don't react the same way to nature.
I asked once if Feondas could attack cattle to weaken a human community and the response was "Yes it's possible", so Feondas can attack other things than humans if it may affect them.
In the end like every things about feondas it varies a lot, thus the difficulty to grasp their nature.

Re: Feondas vs nature
It is going to be interesting to find more about the feondas in the campaign book and of course the book named Secrets. Considering how detailed the setting is and how it tries to give an explanation to a great many things. I really do think that the writers of Esteren do have a plan and have from the get go what the feondas is. loking forward to finding that out. For now they arelovecraftian cthonian montrosities that are unfathomable.

Re: Feondas vs nature
kjetilkverndokken you're partially right when saying that the authors know what feondas are, but actually, the work for the Secrets book has begun loong before 2010, and right now, the authors that will work on its review are finishing the official campaign before switching back to Secrets. Many contents have changed during the passed years, and the community brang many cool stuff that totally fits to the universe, so the whole work already made for Secrets has to be entirely reviewed, and this is a huge work.
So to know more about feondas, just make your own interpretation of it by reading all the books
(or wait until Secrets releases, but it can be veeery long
)
