This adventure is an adaptation on Ingmar Bergman’s film “Jungfrukällan” (The Virgin Spring), script by Ulla Margareta Isaksson, winner of the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar in 1960. It is a tragedy with no happy ending, and it shows the harshness of Esteren to its players. It’s a lineal adventure with very little options, in which there will be some dramatic events out of the control of the players. In the end, nonetheless, the players will need to use their skills and ingenuity to learn the truth and bring justice.

Summary of the scenario:
The players arrive at MacLellan Castle to celebrate the engagement of Galloway Mackencie with MacLellan's daughter, Karin. While the men are out hunting, Karin travels to a small chapel of the One (since she's embraced that faith) to spend the day in prayer before the wedding. On the way she is attacked, raped and left for dead by a group of bandits. As chance has it that night a big storm breaks and the bandits ask for refuge in MacLellan castle, not knowing it is the home of the maiden they have murdered...

What an horrible story ...

... just delightful, as I love it ! Perfect for this kind of RPG, if you want to expose your players how tough and dark is the world of Esteren ! My favorite scene is probably when Ashan try to sell the necklace to the players... so horrific if you manage to keep the ambiance !
