Hi !

As some of yours, more familiar with the french, already knows, the french community had produce a fanzine devoted to the Shadows of Esteren. Though initiated and supported by the authors of the game, the editorial is meant completely independent : texts, proofreading, illustrations and layout are all fan made.

You can find the document here, in french, for free :

PDF : Lueurs d'Esteren, numéro 1, octobre 2012

The pdf content a short novell, a resume of the forum about the navigation on Tri-Kazel, a scenario, a game aid about the Louarn Domain in Salann Tir, a face (a notable NPC) and a magientist artefact.

With the translation in english of the game the community has increase so we intend to continue this project with all of people wanting to help. In a first step we will translate the first number in english ; this work has already begin. The content of the second number will be extract from the french part and will be release both in french and english. But in the third, we want to include material sourcing from the international section.

This part of the forum will be dedicated to discussions and brainstorming about the fanzine.

I let you react and and I'll create a topic the next few days to identify volunteers.

Now it's your turn to talk :geek:

Would love to help do something more international.

Is that a Magientist firearm at the end?? That's just what I'd been hoping to find.

Hi guys,

this is a repeating crossbow working with flux at the end. Arbaflux in french : arba[lète+]flux. I have no idea to how translate this Oo fluxo-crossbow ? crossbowflux ?

However, keep in mind that magientist firearms are very rare. Have a player with one should be exceptionnal.

I'd call it a "fluxbow." Unfortunately, there's no way to translate it while maintaining the grace of the original word...

I know that firearms are exceptionally rare in the world, but if they exist, then I know that I, for one, if I were a player, would want to try to get my hands on one as soon as possible.

Fluxbow is not so bad I think ;)

Translation is always difficult... you could also keep the original word if you like it more... it's is mainly an aesthetic question, I don't think it would be disturbing for a so rare weapon to use a rare or exotic term...

That's a good point. Especially since Magience was brought from the Continent, it would be appropriate to use more exotic-sounding terminology to name such technology.

Actually, I had forgotten until I looked it up just now, but we do use the word "arbalest" in English to refer to a type of crossbow, so "arbaflux" would be an appropriate name either way. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arbalest :)
