kjetilkverndokken comes on the french forum two month ago. He wanted story in the Temple faction, dealing with monks in particular. Because the monastry of Tuath is not translate yet, we proposed him to create a scenario (in english) he can lead at a con.
We started the work in the french secret section and now I create this new thread in the english section in order to exchange and discuss about it. If Kjetil want say a few words more he is welcome.
I must compile the french thread but i'll resume here the work, maybe tomorrow, unless another one does before me =)
At term, I hope we can make a document with a complete playable story.
Thanks Patrick Cialf and Deorman for their help so far, they were much productive than I do.

Yes hey and thank you.
It is for a minicon - with about 30 people. The goal is to introduce something new each time, and this is one of the rpg's I will bring.
I love the "Church" faction, and since In the Name of the Rose brought me on board to kickstart this game.
So yes, I want the adventure to be about the PC's as Monks centered around a cloister, maybe in a small village. The horror of humanity is what I want most important, but a Feondas can be a part of it (the fault of a human, maybe a leader in the cloister?)
Emotions, and intrigue between humans is very important for me, also having aspects of normality around the adventure.
The minicon is still some weeks away so there is still lots of time left.

Patrick Cialf a écrit :Sermon of Father Rector of the monastery before the meal
(Presentation of the Univers and context)
My sons, for two centuries before the missionaries from the continent, supported only by their faith in the One, reached the peninsula called Tri-Kazel or Three Kingdoms to carry the True Faith. Thanks to them, the Prophet's Soustraine, blessed be He, has reached this vast country and converted a great kingdom, that of Gwidre. It is true that many areas of Tri-Kazel remain stuck in the Old Mistake, superstition called the Nature Spirits, and others have adopted the New Error, the so-called Magience who submits them to the blind forces of the material. Do not blame them, my brothers, because only Unique eventually disabuse them when he deems necessary.
As you know, the prophet Soustraine summarized his faith in six commandments, and that's what emblem symbolizes our six branches, hexcelsis. We pray six times a day to remind us of them, and there are six religious orders dedicated specifically to each service. The vectors carry the sacred word from one place to the other, the priests take care of the faithful in the towns and villages, the knights serve the Unique with their sword, sigires with their vigilance, clerics by the pen and knowledge. We, the monks, we give the example of a retired life and prayer. Of course, we must help the laity by our word and our resources, but this should not make us lose sight of our primary mission: the worship of the One and the holy relics that He has entrusted to us.
This meal we eat comes in part the work of our hands, but this is the One who makes the land fertile and fruitful waters. It is partly offerings of the faithful, but it is the One who puts faith in their heart and inspires generosity. Do not rejoice, brethren, thanks to its unique benefits, and follow His holy rule of humility and restraint until the end of time.
Well, I was longer than usual, but it seemed good to remember these principles. You can eat now, my brothers.
Scene 2: a strange woman
Tarishe arrival of the monastery while the big time approach: heavily confused (see syndrome of confusion for details) and bearing wounds and bumps + clothing damaged.
Scene 3 : in full flood
The Rector appoints the PJ to fetch the vector woman injured, according to the words of the young woman. Indications confused and visibility quickly reduced. You can play on shadows to mount pressure for the monks left the monastery less often. Nevertheless they eventually bring the vector woman the verge of death.

His fate knew a sad twist when he developed a bold theory on material which would be divided in small unities. Suspected of heresy, Sigires investigated the case and deemed his work to be dangerous to the principle of unicity of the being and the soul.
Befallen and put in jail Yann lost everything he possessed and every friends.
He was eventually released, without him being spared a dubious reputation and was commanded to join the order of monks.
Now archivist of a small monastry without a future, Yann spends long days in boredom with few noticeable book. Feeling already old and disapointed with his life he waits aimlessly. But the dreamer inside him still hope he may prove to do greater things of his life.

Bréan is a lucky one, sole survivor of a village ravaged by the plague when he was young. He remained with his family bearing with them their slow agony and disease which he was miraculously untouched by.
left on his own, he wandered unaimly until the Church welcomed him and gave him a new home.
His wise saviours made him understand that his life was spared by the Unique and he knows now that he must repay this debt by devoting his existence to the One. So Bréan decided to become a monk and tries to quickly learn the teaching of the Church to catch up. He hope to lead a simple life in service of the M** which will achieve his formation.

Gwinnyold vowed himself to the monk at early age. Not bearing a feudal order he hoped to find a life free from trivial struggles within the monastic community. He knows too well now that monks differ not in their human nature, and that petty conflict are common. Unable of passivity, Gwinnyold put himself in many quarrels between some monastics orders. it made him to become good at shouting and arguing, and despite himself heis now well versed in "behind the scenes"'s maneuvers.
His hierarchy finally decided to promote him as provider of a small monastery, arguing that his bold tongue would do him good in trading, in the only intention to sent him away.
Gwinnyold is a disillusioned man, he has little trust in his "brothers" monks. He is nevertheless still ready to help his companions and he is well intentioned towards Bréan who reminds him his own youth.

Former soldier in the duchy of Salann Tir, then robber, then monk. He is a tall and strong guy, pious, disciplined while inattentive, prone to melancholy. He is a son of an Unicist family, although this is a minority belief in Salann Tir. As a soldier, he clashed one night against drunken young people who tried to throw a Temple vector in the icy river and killed unintentionally one of them, son of a high ranking person. He joined the brigands troop of Sir Jerryl of the Marsh and was involved in a number of attacks, always prying 6 ways a day. He felt in love with a pretty thief girl, Mael. It was hopeless, because she prefered other kind of men. He liked (and likes soon) to carve pretty wood items.
In the attack and arson of a castle, a lot of brigands perished and Teos sacrificed himself for the troop (“Mael, remember me!”). He has survived fast miraculously and vowed to enter the monastery. Rector father knows his past, some other monks doubt it, but leave him alone.

Albergian, H, 43, rector of the monastery M ***
Illegitime son of a village priest, Albergian spent his degree in theology and became a chaplain at a ducal court before getting this monastery in his native province. Heavy in appearance and placid, loving peace, he is more clever than he looks and knows how to cheat his partners. He made M ** a prosperous abbey, although its renown is limited. Albergian has successfully shrouded all memory of his father, died in jail, and his mother, an ionnthèn, burnt at the stake. Even his envious and suspicious steward Fulgius ignore the both. On the other hand, one should know the worthy rector very close to realize he is not immune to female charms.
Fulgius, H, 45, steward of the monastery M***
This cunning and calculating monk was unlucky in intrigues, got beat up (a fracture of the right shoulder and right arm burn) and has gotten a number of opponents, among others, the Holy vector Selina,. He means his appointment as M *** is an undeserved exile, although occupies therein the strategic post of steward, and he mopes seeking how to get out. The arrival of scientist Yann Calahed made him hope: this eminent scholar professed dangerously innovative ideas, so Fulgius could regain the favor of hierarchy denouncing a heretical conspiracy. He cheers the scientist, as far as his embittered temper allows him, and strives to gain his trust until the fruit is ripe. He sents secret reports on his account to Garalt, chief sigire in the city of Atonement.
Very suspicious, he suspects the Holy vector lady sent painter Nioclas spying him (actually, Nioclas knows nothing over that issues between the steward and his "patron"). He avoids upsetting Gwinnyold, expecting the impulsive provider will be easy to trap when justice needs "accomplices of heresy."
Goibenn, H, 42. Gwidrite monk craftsman.
Boss of a little sawmill on the edge of Muttering Forest, he led a quiet life and married Lintha a young, shy, pretty, black-haired shepherdess when the village was destroyed by a wild pack of feondas. Lintha and many others were slaughtered. He took care of the few survivors, including his mother he brought by cousins in a nearby village. Then he joined a team of feondas hunters led by the famous Marn. For several seasons, they hunted feondas in the mysterious forest. As a mechanic expert, he built some effective traps. He fell in love with the young huntress Yzabey, called She-Wolf. That woman had joined Marn to avenge her husband and baby a feond killed. Goibenn but eventually understood than Yzabey, deeply upsetted by her revenge idea, was becoming so mad as her master Marn. Moreover, the track of feondas don’t get one anywhere good.He decided to enter the convent, seeking oblivion.
Goibenn never speaks of his past. He is a suspicious, grumpy, stocky, robust, leg-lame man (his left kneecap broke in an accident). As main craftsman in M***, he is responsible for workshops and tools and tinks, fixes and repairs to and fro. He leads novices hard and dislike intellectuals, especially tainted of heresy. He has few friends and Teos is the only one he has told his recurring dream: a young, tender-smiling brunette, appearing and vanishing in a blink, leaving room for a horde of huge, voracious, scaly rat-shaped feondas.

I went on the idea the monastery was in Gwidre. If it lays in Taol-Kaer, some details in the characters background were to change.

Nioclas Ardenit, male, 24, Gwidrite painter monk. Son of a foreman in the marble quaries of Arden, near the capital city, Ard-Amrach. The whole family survived a shipwreck caused by an enormous sea feond as they travelled with a cargo of building stones. Then his father vowed one of his sons to the Unique [term to verify] and Nioclas became a monk without a true vocation. He found to be very skilled for painting and hierarchy encouraged his talent, while his fanciful mood earned him some penances. He worked for several sponsors, including Holy Vector Selina, higher mother of her order: he insinuates he is her protégé, what is quite exaggerated. He is not a permanent member of M*** where he lives for a couple of months to redo the frescoes in the chapel. Suspicious steward Fulgius means Nioclas were a very lazy worker and his beginning opus (the saint exorcising a pack of bloodthirsty feondas) excessively violent. Nioclas likes to wander in the country with his new friends, the purveyor and the herbalist, but the steward means it is a pretext to seek inspiration under peasant wives skirts.

Lumno, male, 23, Gwidrite herbalist monk. Born in the mountain market-town Deh'ad, brought up by her grandmother, an apothecary, he was a good pupil of the local priest, so hesitated between succeeding in the family shop and enter orders. He was in his host service on the wall when feondas stormed the borough and slaughtered a large part of inhabitants, including his grandmother. Accused of negligence, he was sentenced to two years to an angarde of ill repute wherein he suffered soldiers brutality, isolation and freezing (he lost two fingers of the left hand). When he came back in Deh'ad, family shop was destroyed, so he traveled and worked as an apprentice to several herbalists, then changed his mind for entering a convent. While hoping for a quiet life, he was quickly disappointed by monks’quarrels and narrow mind. He hold in higher esteem open minds as Yann Calahed and Nioclas of Arden. He likes to walk around with Bréan to collect medicinal plants. He lives in the pharmacy in a permanent mess where noone can find something except him, and even then not always ... He usually is a tepid believer, but it happens he has some mystic strokes: he spends the whole day praying in the chapel or meditating in the cold turret. Father Rector Albergian must then draw him back to work.

I meant the monastery could get income from fishery and fish smoking. If it is by a river in flood, that would be a good scenaristic element (isolation, chance of drowning, etc.). It were to precize and to look for images.
