Dearg Character Sheet- Printer Unfriendly
Publié : 17 août 2018, 19:27
I'd like to share my version of the Character Sheet (CS) that I've put together to prepare my players for Dearg. (And apologise in advance for the wall of text...)
You can download the .pdf here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_z_g1X ... sp=sharing
I've expanded the original 4-page all-colour CS to include the Drive/Narrative Arc page, and then taken inspiration (ie: stolen ideas from..!) Corahn-Rin and Stripeless Tiger's excellent CS variants. And, as it's a variant of the original official CS, it is not printer friendly; this is a booklet made up of 2 sheets of double-sided printed A3 paper..!
Contents:
Page 1: Title page
Page 2-4: Original CS, tweaked
Page 5: Narrative Arc
Page 6-7: Travel Journal
Page 8: Character Notes
Changes Made:
Page 1 - Added editable field for character name.
Page 2 - Moved Birthplace & Social Class to character info section; added circle 'boxes' for Ways.
Page 3 - Added space for Ranged attacks in Fighting Attitudes; added Potential +/- reminders, and addition of + for improvements in Defense & Speed. Additional space for extra Armour. Added section for Fighting Arts. Changed Treasure to Wealth; added space for Income. Added separator for Rindath & Exaltation ratings to denote current/total.
Page 4 - Moved Birthplace & Social Class and increased space for Setbacks. Added Mental Resistance advancement bonus track and Bonus/Penalty; increased space for lack-of-Sanity effects. Made room for Qualities/Flaws/Other under Personality. More of those circular boxes for Flaws. Added space to record unspent XP, and place to note what you're saving your XP for(!) as well as Training/Mentor info.
Page 5 - Insertion of Dearg Narrative Arc/Drive page.
Page 6 - insertion of Travel Journal P1. Separators added to Mounts & Animals info.
Page 7 - Insertion of Travel Journal P2. Replaced the rogue numbers on the Tri-Kazel map.
Page 8 - Insertion of Travel Journal P3, modified to include section for character Personal Information, Notes, and Character Portrait. Layers for all Book 0 and Book 1 pregen character illustrations included with Character Portrait.
But Why..?
The reason I've included the title page is so that, when opened, the first two-page spread shows the characters skills, fighting and mystical powers side-by-side. Then turning the page reveals the characters Mental states. Turn the page again and you have a travel info spread. I like how this works. And how it looks.
I toyed with the idea of renaming some Domains, notably Close Combat to Melee and Shooting & Throwing to Ranged, but then have to reorder all the other Domains into alphabetical order to satisfy my OCD and, frankly, I couldn't be arsed..! I would, however, recommend this change be considered for any second edition of the game.
I also fully justified the closing bracket for the Way level in each Domain, making slightly more room.
Didn't include spaces for durability in weapons and equipment, for the simple reason I don't use it in my game: you roll a Fumble, it breaks, simple as that. I also don't break armour down into individual pieces, hence only the space for total Protection.
Agreed with ST that the Treasure section needed re-titling, but didn't think Currency was the right word. Wealth seems to sum up money, income and valuables nicely.
Page 4 is almost a straight copy of ST's, for which I make no apologies..! I just felt that a space for total XP was unnecessary, and that the phrase Goals & Aims summed up character aspirations in a more lore-friendly way. just a matter of personal semantics, really.
I did not include a separate section for Languages: as there are only 4 in the game I didn't see the point. And it's kinda annoying when you can't speak to an NPC because you don't speak the lingo...
Page 5 - the Dearg page. The reason for all this. Blame Nel.
The Travel section was relatively unchanged, but I did spot some numbered circles on the map. As these were useless without reference I pasted over them with some handy triskelions.
The last page is for Character Information, Notes, and a Character sketch. As my group of players aren't artistically inclined I included the fantastic pre-gen character illustrations as selectable layers, for anyone else playing the Book 0 and Book 1 character archetypes. Where 2 different illustrations exist for a character I've included both, to cater for personal preference. Although Eoghan's player wants to know why they only have one picture to choose from..?
Any feedback regarding the functionality of the layers and the editable field would be welcome - especially as I'm not entirely sure that the Dorovar font is embedded correctly... Anyway.
I hope you like it. I hope it's useful to some of you. And I also hope I've not stomped on anyone's toes regarding copyright, etc, in the production of this CS and in posting a link to it here: if so, tell me and I'll remove the share. But it goes without saying all original artworks etc are copyright Studio Agate.
