[OK] Winter Meltdown (Faits d'Hiver translation)

When I joined this forum a few years ago, I was looking for an adventure to showcase the Esteren universe to my players... They were mostly unfamiliar with the game and tabletop RPGs as a whole, so I needed a good little story with enough horror elements to leave my players with a long-lasting impression. At the time,
Prologue was not out so I read a lot of fan-made scenarios/canvas and finally picked
Faits d'Hiver by Netzach.
We played the canvas a few nights later, at night in my living room with the A/C cranked up and some music in the background. It was a success, a "magical" moment according to one of my players.
Netzach got praised for his canvas from many others who still suggest this adventure to new GMs.
So, after the English section of the forum opened, I decided to ask Netzach if I could translate his work and he agreed. It took a lot longer than expected (entirely my fault) but here it is... We're now happy to give you this great canvas in English:

We changed the title because the pun didn't work in English.
Any questions, clarifications or suggestions to improve the translation is welcome!

Hello. I like very much this canvas and I hope your players'll have the same pleasure in english. I GMed it in a convention in a simplified system I adaptated from an other RPG, (thanks to the author):
"Sombre" by Johan Scipion http://terresetranges.net/sombre.php3).
In my game party, the lost villagers were sheppards (instead of hunters) trying to flock their sheeps after the early snow. The PCs could be villagers (woman, teenager, demorthen) or voyagers (varigal, tarish, etc).
I used the soldiers patrol in another way. They were desertors (mercenaries a baron recently fired) lost in the mountain to escape to the law enforcement. A PC (varigal, bard, etc) could have been told of it if necessary. The soldiers would the sheppards bring them cattle for their food, a clash happened, Sgt Cregan was wounded, some sheppards were killed, some flied in the mountain (and disturbed the feond). The PCs found corpses of 2 slaid sheppards in a cave. The desertors lured the PCs telling them they were tracking cattle thiefs (they still wear the legal coat of arms) because they have a poor knowledge of the area and the cattle, they need some local help to find the sheeps.
The PCs are trapped between 2 dangers: the hungry feond and the desertors who kill them ruthless if they are unveiled. The party was intense with thin hope of survival.

Well, I'm a member of the Sombre dev team. That might explain it all

I like the way you changed the canvas

My first idea was to make Cregan, Bran, Ionas and Jorelle, a group of thieves disguised as soldiers. But I thought the risk for the PCs to get killed was too high and I decided to change the story in order to make Jorelle the only villain.

Great canvas, and nice translation.

I'm definitely keeping this one on standby to use with my group.
