WoeRie a écrit :"Frail" is a good word for that, how would you call the opposite of "Relentless"?
Merciful ? Kind ?

WoeRie a écrit :Ah, I didn't catched that. So, with "Fragile" "Un-Sturdy" was meant, is that correct?
That is indeed correct.
"Frail" is a good word for that, how would you call the opposite of "Relentless"?
I'd say "Feeble" or "Vulnerable".

Relentless is actually meant to convey the meaning of "Tireless", not "Heartless".

"Feeble" sounds great. I put it in my Excel sheet. So, I finally have no "Un-whatever" Disadvantage left to translate!

Thank you :)

Yay!

If you need other translation-related information, feel free to ask me, whether on a dedicated thread or by PM.

Sorry for necro.
WoeRie a écrit : Yldiane, Varigal: The Perception discipline Alertness is not possible for a starting Varigal. She has not even enough XP for it. It results exactly with 0 XP, including the Mentor bonus, without it.
I don't understand why she can't start with Alertness.

In any case, if she is age 21, then she should start with one Setback even though it isn't listed. This also means that she gains an additional Domain point as it equals out to exactly 0XP.

I decided Alone fits her character profile rather well as a Setback even though she has Arven as a friend and Adeliane is still alive. I would assume that she "feels" alone and forged new friendships after the disappearance of her other loved ones.

See p.203 of Book 1 - Universe:
Throughout the creation process, the level in some Domains can increase up to 5, making it possible to learn Disciplines, but these will have to be allotted to the Primary and Secondary Domains defined by the chosen Profession.
And Varigals only have access to Travel as a Primary Domain, and Feats and Natural Environment as Secondary Domains. Hence why a Varigal Character couldn't normally have Alertness (a Perception Discipline) at creation.

You mean to say that they can't possess a Discipline in a Domain that is not a Primary or Secondary to their profession?

Wow, that seems very limited. I did not realize this before I started making characters. It seems a very important fact to be only a single line describing it in the book.

Is this a character creation limitation, or a global one for the duration of the player's experience growth? Is there any way to buy Disciplines in a non-profession Domain, such as switching professions?

Only at creation (it is stated sat the beginning of the step 2: profession).

And as I always say, if you think that's too limited, feel free to change it! Shadows of Esteren is what you make it as a GM, so if something doesn't suit your style, modify it so that it does! :)

Okay, that's much better then. Not being able to start with it makes sense, so long as they can buy it up later.
