As Iris said, all player can choose one narrative arc (or two with a major and a minor). This is a kind of way the character is engaged. During the campaign, some chapters are oriented to improve one or more arc owned by the characters. Progress in his narrative arc give an xp bonus and new advantage(s). This is symbolised by a new score (ardor in english ?) and an additionnal sheet on the character sheet to describe all of that.
But the more you progress in, the less you can resist to it. The more common exemple is eoghan and is arc of love. With an high score in ardor, if the group is in danger, Eoghan should fight against his love in order to save someone before Céliane. Sid, with his revenge arc may have trouble to calm himself, etc.
There is a new form of story, too : the focus, centered around one character (like a flashback), the others playing secondary roles. The objective, here, is to explore the story of the heroes and discover the source of their own narratives arc.
I don't know if I am enough clear.
