Well, 30 XP is "a lot" only if you play very often... if not it's a reward that motivate the Players...

... but I think I'm quite generous with XP... :P ... I must say : it didn't cause any problem :)

Yeah, Esteren's experience system makes for a slow progression of the Characters, so unless you dish out 100 xps for each scenario, the Characters will remain people with human abilities.

I think, I'll be giving out experience points per session in the suggested range of 3-15 XP. I like to give my games a structure like a TV series and think of a game session as a 45 minute episode. Also, I have players who are rotating, thus not playing that often. Therefore, be a bit more generous with XP makes up for lack of time at the table.

I am also thinking about offering a skype game. This is really working well with my Vampire: The Requiem group right now (and proly the only way to even play in December).

Thanks for the advice everybody. I've gone with 20 xp for Loch Varn. As we rotate gms, I'll only be running Omens then we will move on to another game for a while (thus s good, give you a chance to release more scenarios for me to run). So seeing some progression will encourage them. As my players say 'we put in the effort we expect to get paid'

MOC: I've never played on Skype but I've always wanted to try it. How would you do the dice rolling?

Honor system. We have a player in our regular group who moved away and has been joining us live via Skype.

Exactly. There are online dice rollers available, but honors system works perfectly well. After all, it is only one d10 ;)

Interesting. I'm running an mail game and I not get them to roll at all. I look at the skills and work out if thy an do it or not. If I'm not sure I'll go with if they role played it well or not.

That's a good way to go, but still, be careful with that: it would be a shame to penalize people who are not very imaginative or descriptive over those who more at ease with role-playing.

True. Luckily I focus on story so they aren't many rolls to be done. Also I hand pick who I run games for so I know they are good :)
