Yep I'd call to an Arbaflux too (fluxbow sounds like a longbow to me rather than a crossbow)

Think I ay have found a bit if motivation for the magientist :) Thank goodness for google translate!

Arbaflux sounds fine to me, all the more so considering that "arbalest" apparently refers to a particularly powerful model of crossbow ("The strongest windlass-pulled arbalests could have up to 22 kN (5000 lbf) of force and be accurate up to 300 m."). With "Arbaflux", you really convey the idea that this bad boy can pack a punch!

I snuck some notes about the Arbaflux into a diary they found in the secret lab in Loch Varn just to give them some sort of 'treasure'. :geek:

Good thinking! Players enjoy getting little tidbits like that.

Hullo, Iz,

this is a repeating crossbow working with flux at the end. Arbaflux in french : arba[lète+]flux. I have no idea to how translate this Oo fluxo-crossbow ? crossbowflux ?

However, keep in mind that magientist firearms are very rare. Have a player with one should be exceptionnal.
To me, that would translate best as a Flux Crossbow. Or Flux Repeating Crossbow. FRC for short. :) I'm assuming that the original French term, "Arbaflux", referred more to a form of Arbalest. The arbalest and crossbow have many similarities, but there are some major differences. I could see the weapon being called a Flux Arbalest in English, but am reluctant to see the term "arbaflux" used for it. Sounds like a type of flux to me. :)

Your argument could probably be made for the French expression as well. I personally like Arbaflux. Sounds nice, elegant and not as cumbersome as Flux Repeating Crossbow or Flux Arabalest... Arbaflux conveys the picture nicely.

In conclusion I think we will keep the same term both in french and english.

It's true that FRC sounded dandy, but like MoC, I like Arbaflux. Plus, it makes it possible to keep the original term, which is a bonus.
