Heh, a nice, old-school software, I like it!

However, I agree with you that preparing a whole soundtrack for ambience can quickly become a pain in the butt, and that music can actually do the trick very well. Still, for GMs who really like to fine-tune their soundtrack to fit the atmosphere or simple prepare a scene in advance, this can be a neat little tool.
