Just want to advertise for my own : I can't guess what the other items are, but I know for a fact that the plugin exists, and shouldn't take long at all to install/setup.

Thanks for the reassurance. I am still getting plenty of French spam but I don't know any way of tracking where it all started. I'm clean of viruses as far as I (well, AVG) can tell and have reset my password on webmail account and am working my way through changing other passwords to be more secure.

We are taking care to implement the latest security fixes for the forum, but as you have been previously told, it seems your problem is from elsewhere, since you are the only one so far to report such a problem.

I hope you will be able to get rid of the spam quickly!

Anti virus is unavoidable obviously, but have a look at anti malware/ spyware softwares.
It happens that, before going from PC to Mac, I had once problems with malwares/ spywares that didn't get into the scope of scans of antiviruses.
I believe there must be some free software dedicated to this. I wish I can remember the names ... it has been about 5 years ago since I used them...
