Sure, I used them as character sheets for my players
However I found more problems and I fixed them in the latest version:
1) I had problems with non-german Excels. Dis/Advantages were NOT automatically integrated on the sheet. This is fixed.
2) I include the fonts in the ZIP. They are 100% freeware, so I think this is ok as the sheet looks terible if it falls back to the default fonts.
If you had problems, you should give it a try again: http://riegler.name/Esteren-Charactersheet.zip
An Excel spreadsheet for character creation
Re: An Excel spreadsheet for character creation
I have tried modifying things here and there, and have actually spotted something strange: when I chose "Well-read" (and only Well-read) as an Advantage, the available Experience points suddenly and inexplicably dropped from 100 to 20. Pretty much the same thing occurs whatever Advantage I pick. Any idea what that happens?
But in general, this seems to work pretty well. Kudos!

Allez, come on, allons-y, here we go, en avant, godspeed, hardi, let's do this!
Re: An Excel spreadsheet for character creation
Very strange. I tried it with a German Excel 2007 and with an English Excel 2013, on both it works properly.
If you select one of the "Well-read (...)" from the list (e.g.: Well-read (Erudition)" it should reduce your XP by 20 and increase the domain bonus by +1, so there should be still 80 remaining XPs. If you simply type in "Well-read" into the Advantages it does not calculate anything as it does not know it.
But that the XP totally drop to 20 is really strange... what kind of Excel do you using? Maybe I have problems with French or older Excel versions.

Re: An Excel spreadsheet for character creation
Very strange indeed! I tried it again, making sure to select the Advantage properly, and the same error occured.
I use LibreOffice, so nothing too exotic, but the difference in softwares indeed seems to be the problem...

Re: An Excel spreadsheet for character creation
Ok, I think this is the problem. I had that before with a different Excel character sheet and OpenOffice. There it was the same: 90% worked fine, but somehow some functions did not work properly.
If I have time during the weekend, I will have a look at it, maybe it is only a small issue.

Okay! Don't sweat it, though!

Re: An Excel spreadsheet for character creation
Yes, that's true. But I prefer the flexibility I have with Excel sheets. If I need some house rules to be integrated, I simply do it for all my players sheets. If I need something speciality to be integrated... I'll do it one one single sheet only.
Also I'm quite fast in creating these sheets, as I do one for each RPG I played in the last 20 years. Normally I only need approx. 2-3 hours for the first version and afterwards I fully understand the character creation process. I would have had to invest the time anyway to understand it, so some people write notes on a piece of paper, I create Excel sheets
