Player Cap
Player Cap
Was just thinking, whats the maximum number of players we should have in a game. My usual cap is 5 in D&D wonder if 5 or 6 for an esteren game would be too much. My home game usually plays with 3 players.

Re: Player Cap
Hmm, I'd say it wholly depends on your own capabilities as a GL and, partially, on your friends' willingness to create a story together.
A GL is the interface, engine and AI in tabletop RPG (apologies for using computer nomenclature) - task yourself with too many simultaneous things to do and remember about and certain aspects of your sessions may suffer for it. We only have that much RAM to spare on running sessions.
I run single player sessions, where player's immersion and story's compatibility with character's goals and background are unrivalled, when compared with any group games. I very occasionally run two or three player sessions and can't say I'd favour them. Would never dare to go above that number.

Agree with Pawel on this one - it entirely depends on what you as a GM like and how the group itself works. I personally like running for no more than four but there is one group I have played on and off with for several years now and we can easily sit down for great session with up to nine players
I don't run those sessions

Re: Player Cap
I typically run with a group of between 3-5, but have run 6 fairly regularly and up to 13 with me as the sole GM (never again). I think what everyone else has said is right, it very much depends on what you as a GL are comfortable with and the sort of game 'feel' you need (I find smaller groups lend themselves better to horror games).
