I'm going to be running a game with online players and I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions of cheep or free sites to use as I play through since the group is more of a visuals group and fighting will need some sort of built field/map to fight on.

The best free tool I use is Google Hangouts (old version) + Roll20 app.
You can also use Roll20 in "standalone" without Hangouts integration, if you like.

Well, what would be a good online group that isn't free?

Thank you for letting me know. I already use Roll20 but it's good to hear that others use it.

Well... I personnaly play by forum (pbf) but some friends of mine are playing also with Skype... I do not know much about this subject ...

If you're looking for "non-free" tools you might take a look at Fantasy Grounds 2, it's a bit heavy but you can do more things than with Roll20
