Finally got a group together!

I picked up SoE at GenCon the year it was released and now I have finally convinced my players to pick it up. We are starting this Friday with group character creation.
I will be GMing it so I have been busy building the starting village I will be placing them in. There will be session posts as I have time to write them unless I can get one of my players to do it from the point of his character.
My plan is to build a small, secluded village and have the players all play young (16 year old-ish) novice characters. The culture and location of the village will depend on the characters the group wants to make. For example, if there is a Magentist or two, they will be either in or close to the border of Reizh. I plan on the first few sessions being more sandbox focused - there will be a handful of hooks for the group to explore but overall I will let them find their footing together. Once we have a handle on the game and the system, I'll destroy the entire village somehow (most likely a horde attack) and force the players out into the big, dangerous world.
I'm always open to ideas and suggestions! If you have any ideas for plot hooks or just interesting tidbits to suggest let me know. I'll post the village when I have it finished, currently fleshing out its economy right now.
