Re: Player Character Sorcerer
An occultist? Possibly. A sorcerer? No. In our recent game, we had an occultist who could perform exorcisms and one of the PCs expressed an interest in learning it. Basically we added a ritual magic skill to Occultism. It was slow compared to Sigil Rann and Miracles (and Sorcery) as it took a minimu...

Re: Sigil Rann in Combat
This is interesting, it will mean players will want to push their magical abilities to get a better success. After all if the success value has no effect on damage you might as well go for the next rank and hope to pass by 1 rather than a lower rank and pass by 5 say. As the damage potential is inc...

Re: Sigil Rann in Combat
...except that the success margin does not influence the Damage, which is based on the Circle only. Oh! Really? Hmmm, yea...I think that point could due to be clarified a little better in the book then. Is there any place that is specifically stated, because I thought the Margin always fact...

Re: Player Cap
I typically run with a group of between 3-5, but have run 6 fairly regularly and up to 13 with me as the sole GM (never again). I think what everyone else has said is right, it very much depends on what you as a GL are comfortable with and the sort of game 'feel' you need (I find smaller groups lend...

Re: Kickstarter: Occultism
Ouch! Shipping is getting crazy. I've stopped backing at physical levels from anything outside Europe for much the same reasons. Between shipping costs and import tax it just isn't worth it for most things. What can I say, I like books - and the Shadows' books are so beautiful that I really want th...

Re: Kickstarter: Occultism
Thanks for the confirmation - a bestiary (and guidance on how to create creatures!) is something I've been really looking forward too. As for postage, it's the curse of living in New Zealand - we're a long way from everywhere else; just means it is prohibitively expensive to back kickstarters at hig...

Re: Kickstarter: Occultism
Really glad that this is doing well, but just wanted to check that the Tri-Kazelian backer level will get the Bestiary Parts 1 and 2? From the icons I am presuming they are pdf only and come under the "all digital stretch goals"? P.S. I really love the Shadows stuff and would back higher, but I just...

Re: Trained Dogs (v1.0) - Feedback welcome
That would be awesome thanks. I am sure there are other tricks; these were just the ones I thought of when talking to what my players were looking at. Currently they still haven't seen much use to be honest (they're not good enough trainers).

Re: Trained Dogs (v1.0) - Feedback welcome
Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately I am one of those unfortunate mono-lingual people (other than a smattering of Maori being a Kiwi), so can't read French  I have incorporated your suggestions into v1.1 (below). I have capped the increase to Speed at +5 and Attack, Defence and Skills at +1...

Trained Dogs (v1.0) - Feedback welcome
So, a couple of weeks into my SoE game (going well so far!), a couple of the PCs are wanting trained dogs to accompany them. I actually quite like this idea as it seems to fit with my vision of the world, but having been thinking about how to model it. Here is a draft of what I have come up with so ...
